Celeb de Tomato

I looked for a favorite cafe/bar called Any Time in Akasaka and found it had been replaced by a tomato lover's paradise, a shop + cafe called Celeb de Tomato.  Their site describes it as "the specialty store of the selected tomato." 

Here you will find tomatoes raised to gourmet celebrity status. Flawless specimens are coddled in straw nests like rare birds. Luscious pastries and tarts glisten like crown jewels, all made with tomatoes. How about a tomato tiramisu? Or a dried tomato chocolate gateau? You can also find tomato beer and a variety of sauces, condiments and juices made from heirloom tomatoes flaunting regal names like Black Prince.

I was pleased to see tomatoes, my favorite fruit, receiving their due regard. At the time I just ogled these gems, meaning to return later and sample something, but I'll have to wait for my next Tokyo visit.
