Japan Quake and Tsunami Disaster: Please Help
Most of you are aware by now that Japan suffered the effects of a massive 8.9 magnitude earthquake and deadly tsunami on March 11. The resulting devastation will require much time and enormous relief efforts before things return to some normalcy. I'm very grateful my family and friends in Japan are safe, but I'm in shock over these heartbreaking events, like many of us with close ties to Japan who have been riveted to news sources, Twitter and other social media, following first-hand accounts of this major disaster.
I'll write more about this later--for now, I want to share this information from Rick Martin on how to donate to various emergency and relief funds. The best way to help Japan now is to send funds and our good wishes.

Thanks for inspiring me to donate! This tragedy is a wake up call for me to tweak my earthquake kit. Just heard on NPR how the Hayward fault has been active every 140 years. We are on year 143! Thinking of you and your family and friends. -Nikki
